Ericsson reverses losses and profits $ 992 million in the quarter

SÃO PAULO-Ericsson achieved net income of $ 992 million in the fourth quarter of 2013, reversing the loss registered in the same period of the previous year, to $ 976 million. Sales in the period were stable compared to the previous year, at $ 10 billion.
The highlight was for operating profit of $ 1.4 billion, against a negative result of $ 589 million registered by the company in the last three months of 2012. In 2013, cumulative sales of Ericsson grew 5%.
As communicated by the company, the main reasons for the improvement of the result were the two projects of mobile broadband coverage, which arrived in North America in the first half of 2013, and the impact of reduced activity in Japan. The implementation of new projects in the USA has also strengthened the position of the company.
"During the past few years, we have strengthened our position in Europe through projects of modernization of the network. These projects were delivered and the negative impact that the investments had on the banks of the company left behind, "says the company, by way of note.
Ericsson expects the telecommunications industry in Europe will boost the company's activities going forward, as there is an evolution of the macroeconomic scenario in the region.
