During the World Cup, beer sales should rise 4%

During the World Cup, which will be held from 12 June to 13 July, the consumption of beer in Brazil must register an average increase of 4 percent, according to projections from Brazil Kirin, owner of brands Schin and Debauched.
The event will help boost sales in the sector after the production volume have retreated 2 percent in 2013, compared to the previous year, according to data from the control System for the production of beverages (Sicobe), the internal revenue service.
For 2014, the Kirin expects the resumption of growth of this market, with breakthrough between 1% to 2%.
"Summer will be larger due to the Carnival in March and the World Cup should lessen the impact of seasonality," said yesterday the company's marketing Vice President, Maria Inês Murad, during interview to announce actress Grazi Massafera as new "Wanton" Girl. The former football player and Congressman Romário (PSD) was also presented as poster boy of the brand.
