Coca-Cola mira in the long run and keep investments

RIVER-the acceleration of inflation and the growth of income in lower rate does not scare the Coca-Cola Brazil in time to assess their investments in the country. According to the company's communications Vice President, Marco Simoes, the company is planning horizon the medium and the long term, time in which, in its assessment, the Brazil will grow with more force.
"We know that Brazil has a fairly large growth capacity, and that will grow in the medium and long term. That's why we maintain our investments even if the quarterly or even annual result can be lower than the previous period, "said Sen, referring to the slowdown in sales observed from the second quarter of last year, which resulted in a 1% drop in sales in the third quarter. The data of the last three months of the year, according to the Vice President, will be released in February.
According to Simões, several reasons influenced the drop in sales, including the reduction in the availability of income, despite the situation of full employment. In addition, the cold and rainy weather that prevailed during ten months in 2013 was unfavorable to the immediate consumption market (including bars and restaurants).
For 2014, forecasts of lower growth of gross domestic product (GDP) and inflation acceleration are seen by Sen as "cyclical movements of the economy", which enters the care of long-term planning. "When you build or builds a factory, that's meant to last 10 or 20 years. We can't ever let us be guided by predictions, positive or negative, even in the very short term. And a year is a very short term. So, predictions of a year do not affect our investment, "he said.
Coca-Cola Brazil does not disclose how much will be the company's investment in the country in 2014. But the five-year plan provided for disbursement of $ 14.1 billion between 2012 and 2016. So far, were invested r $ 2.8 billion in 2012 and $ 2.6 billion last year.
"The area of potted drinks non-alcoholic beverages will keep growing in the coming years. We estimate that by 2020 there will be a significantly higher market. Of course larger, smaller ones have years, but we believe a consistent growth in the long term, "said Sen.
During the period of the World Cup, Simoes predicts a spike in sales. "The World Cup is always a positive factor for our industry. Every time we have anywhere in the World Cup, we have a significantly higher result in that period, "he said.
