Brazil took a beer can less per month in 2013

Sao Paulo-the year of 2013 has not been the best for the Brazilian beer.
The industry sector national production had fallen 2%-the first time this has happened since the data began to be published in 2010.
Of the 12 months of the year, only 4 had increased as compared to the same period of the previous year.
This means that, on average, the Brazilian took a can of beer at least per month in 2013, concludes the report of Associação Brasileira da Indústria da Beer (CervBrasil) released last week.
The Brazilian production was not compensated by the import of the product, which also fell.
The numbers are from the production control system of Drinks (Sicobe) of the internal revenue service and the Ministry of Development and foreign trade.
According to the consultancy Nielsen, beer consumption in Brazil has fallen consistently since 2010. The trend is global, but may be related to local factors such as prohibition, for example.
The industry blames the level of indebtedness of households and the fall in the rate of income growth. In a World Cup year, the Executive Director of CervBrasil says that "despite the retraction, the sector is optimistic".
The price of beer increased by 10.1% in 2013-above the general inflation of 5.9%, and inflation of food and drinks, to 8.5%. In 2012, the inflation of the beer had been even bigger, of 13.1%.
An increase of taxes on cold drinks was scheduled for October 2013 and was postponed to this year-still no date set.
At the moment, Ambev promotes the campaign "summer without Increased" to freeze the prices of its brands Brahma, Antarctica, Skol, Bohemia and unique to the Carnival.
