Automakers that have factory in the country create rival Association Anfavea

The Brazilian Association of Automobile importing companies (Abeiva) yesterday confirmed their status change. With the change, the entity that housed importers of vehicles shall also receive manufacturers, becoming a kind of rival National Association of Automotive vehicle manufacturers (Anfavea), so far the only entity class that represent the automakers.
The corporate name happens to be Brazilian Association of Automotive vehicle Manufacturers and Importers (Abeifa), as the State anticipated in edition of day 12. Three brands that build factories in the Country-Chery, JAC Motors and Land Rover-have announced that will be in the new entity.
Audi and BMW, which will also have local production, are affiliated to Abeiva but not yet reported to migrate to the Anfavea. The manufacturers of trucks Foton, Schacman and Sinotruk must decide in the future if they join one of the entities.
' Some companies are already beginning to prepare for produce in the country and naturally arose the idea to change the status to become not only an Association of importers, but also an entity to House companies that matter today and will in the near future to manufacture vehicles in the country ', says Francis Padovan, President of Abeiva and Jaguar Land Rover.
Padovan States that there is ' no intention to clash with other association '. According to him, ' it's just an option we give to members to continue in the same association '. Sought, the Anfavea has not delivered an opinion on the subject.
Jewel. Although the direction of Abeiva has not officially declared, one of the reasons for the change of status, according to several sources heard in the market, would be the discontent of future manufacturers with the high ' jewel ' the Anfavea snake of new associates, at $ 2 million. The Abeiva charges $ 75,000 for membership and did not inform will that value to the Abeifa.
The value request by Anfavea is considered exaggeration by the newcomers. Another focus of discontent is the power of decision on Anfavea, concentrated in the five largest manufacturers: Volkswagen, Fiat, General Motors, Ford and Mercedes-Benz.
Executives of the group take turns at the helm of the entity for more than 30 years, what has generated discontent even among some of the current members.
' It's better to be the head of sardines than shark's tail ', says the Chairman of JAC Motors, Sérgio Habib, to confirm that the JAC, with factory under construction in Bahia, will be at Abeifa.
Second members of Anfavea, the glove is justified by the equity built in its more than 50 years, with properties in Sao Paulo and Brasilia. The entity has free access to the offices in Brasília, and usually have requests granted, such as tax incentives.
In addition to the ' glove ' the Anfavea cobra monthly a percentage on the associated billing, common practice in several professional associations. The Abeiva does not operate with fixed monthly charge, but monthly costs apportioned between the partners.
Keep the associated with that normally would go to the Anfavea (as they did in the past, for example, Renault and Mitsubishi) will be a way to keep Abeiva representativeness. Without Chery, JAC and Land Rover, would represent only niche brands such as Ferrari and Porsche. The exception would be the largest independent importer that Kia has not yet decided by local production.
