Spanish ROCA will open factory in Pernambuco

The Spanish group Roca, largest manufacturer of sanitary wares in the world, announced that it will inaugurate the factory in Pernambuco in the first quarter of 2014. The information was made official yesterday, during a visit of a delegation of the Government of Catalonia to São Paulo. The group is to invest 13.5 million euros (about US $ 40 million) in the plant – already in the works, in Vitória de Santo Antão, South Forest, the first of metal sanitaryware in the country and tenth in the world, where components of the brands Roca and Celite.
Currently these products are imported from factories of the group, mainly from Europe. The local unit is being built in an area of 50 thousand square meters (m²), in front of the Kraft Foods plant. According to the Secretary of economic development, Márcio Jesse Monteiro, the works began at the end of 2012 and are advanced.
The plant will have production capacity of one million pieces per year, and forecast to generate 230 direct jobs in the region. According to the company, the factory has advanced production technology and engineering, as well as complete structure of casting, machining, polishing and cromeação. Electro-plating (parts coating process) will be 100%. According to the distaff, the largest crockery market growth is in the northeastern region, considering all the product mix.
