Herbalife's net profit rises 8.5% in Q2

The Herbalife's net profit reached US $ 143,2 million in the second quarter, according to results released this afternoon. The gain was 8.5% higher as compared to the same period of the previous year.
Discounting effects of extraordinary expenses, net income totaled $ 1.41 per share. Analysts had expected profit of $ 1.18 per paper.
This is the 18th consecutive quarter in which the company overcomes the Wall Street profit estimates, according to data compiled by Factset. The last time the Herbalife had performance below the projections of the market was in the fourth quarter of 2008.
The net revenue of the manufacturer of nutritional supplements rose 18% on annual basis, for $ 1.2 billion. Meanwhile, the cost of sales rose by 21.3% to $ 247,2 million.
The company's shares rise 6.5% in pós-fechamento and are in strong recovery path since the first-quarter result on April 29, when the company raised estimates for the year. The action progresses 51% since the end of April and 77% in the year.
The Herbalife returned to revise the projections and now an estimated profit of $ 4.83 to $ 4.95 per share on the year, with an increase of 16% to 18% of revenue. The previous approach was to gain between $ 4.60 and $ 4.80 per share and high of 13% to 15% of revenues.
