Brazil is strategic for BlackBerry

The BlackBerry (ex-Research inMotion) put the Brazil definitely in your track to make up ground in the global smartphone market. The Canadian company announced yesterday the launch location of Q10, the second brand model based on the new BlackBerry operating system 10.
In the Brazilian market, the first onslaught of the manufacturer within that strategy took place in may, with the arrival of the Z10, touchscreen device, one of the features that signals the company's attempt at approaching the final consumers.
The new release, however, reinforces a positioning that has for a long time the absolute reign of BlackBerry in the smartphone segment, before losing significant slices of this market to rivals such as Apple and Samsung: the strong preference of executives and companies through the devices of the brand.
As part of this direction, initially, the Q10 will be available from the end of July only to corporate sales, by means of the four major carriers. There is no forecast of product availability at retail. "We're going through a year of challenges and reinvention to meet new consumer demands. On the other hand, the corporate market never ceased to be our focus, "said Sachin Guimarães, Director of business development and channels of BlackBerry in Brazil, during the meeting with journalists.
In this direction, the Q10 invests in the maintenance and improvement of known features of BlackBerry, among them a physical keyboard, in counterpoint to the growing consumer preference for virtual keyboards and touch screens. The idea, said Guimaraes, is to unite the best of both worlds, and, at the same time, meet the demand of a large part of traditional users of the brand.
Another aspect strengthened in the new device is safety. One of the available applications is the possibility to set up different profiles for professional and personal use.
With this approach, the system allows, for example, that a company block any attempt by the user to copy and transfer an email with sensitive data to another environment. "Security has always been a strong demand of the companies. However, we are seeing that this concern is also migrating to the end users, especially with the recent news involving cases of espionage, "said Guimaraes.
According to Renato Gil Martins, corporate sales manager, Brazil represents 54% of the market.
