Samsung Galaxy smartphone launch S4 faster, Executive says

Samsung plans to sell a variation of its flagship smartphone, the Galaxy S4, which will transmit data at almost double the normal rate, said the head of the company's mobile telephony business, on Monday (17).
J.K. Shin, also co-President of the world's largest technology company by revenue, said the phone would be sold in South Korea earlier this month.
The Samsung was in negotiations with several foreign carriers to take the phone, said Shin told Reuters in an interview at the headquarters of Samsung in Suwon, South of Seoul. He refused to name the carriers.
"We will be the first to make the commercial launch of the advanced version of the 4 g smartphone," said Shin.
The new S4 will use LTE-Advanced 4 g technology, a conventional 4 g update called LTE, or long-term evolution. LTE-Advanced offers data transmission at up to twice normal speed of 4 g. Mobile phones will be equipped with Qualcomm chips.
The download of a movie that takes three minutes with the conventional 4 g would take a little over a minute, said Samsung.
Samsung's shares have lost almost $ 20 billion since June 7, after analysts cut forecasts for sales of Galaxy S4 in up to 30% due to industry data that showed that the high-tech smartphones market was becoming saturated.
The same problem afflicts iPhone sales 5, manufactured by rival Apple.
Shin showed little concern about sales prospects for the S4, which hit stores in late April. The mobile devices division is the largest generator of profit of the company.
"S4 sales remain strong. Sales are much stronger than the (Galaxy) SIII and the new phone LTE-Advanced (4 g) will be an addition to our high-tech products segment, which guarantee healthy profit margins, "said Shin.
