Evolubike must double billing in 2013

Against the bicycle sector, which shrank 18.2% in the first quarter of this year, compared with the same period in 2012, the Brazilian market bet Evolubike and expects to double in size by the end of the year. The expectation of growth also takes into account the data submitted by Abraciclo indicating a recovery of 1.3% in April compared to March this year in the production of bicycles in Manaus Industrial Pole (PIM). Other data animator announced by the entity was the indentation of 13.7% in imports in the first quarter of 2013 compared to the same period last year.
Established in 2010, the Evolubike already sold 750 units based on an initial investment of $ 700,000. Given this growth in sales, the manufacturer intends to fold, yet this year, the turnover achieved in 2012, to an all-time low of $ 3 million.
According to the Chief Financial Officer, Alexandre Lima, within this framework, the company is studying the possibility of building a new factory in Brazil to nationalize its production, still dependent on imported items. The unit should consume r $ 12 million investment to raise production to 5 thousand bicycles. The studies for expansion should be ready in 2014, and Manaus is among the regions analyzed.
The Government stimulus and the environmental issue should collaborate with the increase in sales in the coming years.
"Most Brazilian cities, like São Paulo, already suffering with the saturation of traffic and not more so many cars on the streets," explains chief financial officer of the company.
In this way, the bikes appear as a means of alleviating the traffic created by cars, as well as decrease the volume of people using public transportation daily.
"Electric bicycle serves as an alternative for those who need to get around the city, but don't want to use a car or public transportation," he points out.
