The amount of Total Recoverable Sugar (ATR) per ton of cane processed by plants of South-Central Brazil hit 124.47 per tonne in the first fifteen pounds days of may, 9.08% higher to 114.11 pounds recorded in 2012.
According to the Brazilian sugarcane industry association (Unica), accumulated since the start of the 2013/2014 season until May 15, the ATR content per tonne of raw material reached 116.76 pounds per tonne, 5.70% up from 110.46 pounds recorded in the same period of the previous year.
The only caveat that this trend toward greater concentration of sugars in raw material should be stopped in the next few weeks if the weather forecasts, which point to the occurrence of rain in virtually all regions, are confirmed.
