The production of smartphones in the country begins in June

The Positivo Informática, which entered the market of mobile phones and smartphones in November through the import of custom products in China, will begin to manufacture items in Brazil in June. The site is being studied, but initial tests indicate that the Assembly will be made in the company's unit in Manaus.
The local production was expected since the company's debut in the segment. "Tributariamente is more advantageous," said Helium Rotenberg, President of positive, citing the announced exemption of PIS and Cofins for smartphones produced in the country. The company has on the market four models of devices and plans to offer consumers another six in 2013.
Rotenberg noted that the Positive focus this year are phones, "product to be settled" by the company that is a leader in the manufacture of computers in Brazil. "We have to show that we come and gain significant market share," he says. According to him, the components for manufacturing in the country have already been imported.
Diversification is a Positive way to be less dependent on tight margins in the computer market. The company also has e-book readers and tablets, and maintains online store for selling content and services.
Rotenberg said that there are other studies in progress, such as the manufacture of TVs, but added that "it is a difficult market" and that "not excited" to enter it. "We are keeping up with everything," he says, about the evolution of digital convergence. The Positive already have the PCTV and TV notebook.
In his opinion, with the tablets and mobile phones, the Positivo Informática is no longer a computer company to be a device company. "Any pun between the device and positive words is no coincidence," the entrepreneur.
