Shipment of coffee should grow 8%

Brazilian coffee exports should grow about 8% this year before 2012 and reach approximately 30 million sacks, William Barnes, Director-General of the Council of the Brazil coffee Exporters (CeCafé).
Last year, Brazil exported 28.281 million sacks of coffee, about 5 million bags less than in 2011. The estimate for shipments this year considers the behavior of the segment in the first quarter, when exports resumed the normal pace. It was expected that part of coffee left to be sold abroad in the second half of 2012 would be incorporated the results of the first months of 2013. Last year, the country faced problems with the reduction of supply of quality coffee due to RAINS at harvest and lower demand due to the economic downturn in major grain consumers.
The Brazilian coffee total shipments (green grain and industrialized) in March totaled 2.513 million sacks, an increase of 11.2% over the same month of 2012, according to the CeCafé. The recipe already backed down 17.56% to $ 466,057 million, on the same basis of comparison, due to the falling prices of Arabica coffee international.
In the first quarter of the year, exports grew by 9.8% compared to the same range of 2012, to 7.271 million sacks. Revenue fell 18.8%, to $ 1,401 billion.
In the crop year to-date 2012/13, July last year to March 2013, external sales totaled 22.952 million sacks, down 3.4% on the 23.771 million bags shipped in the same period of the previous season. Already, revenue on the same basis of comparison, further diminished-28%-to $ 4,646 billion.
Of the volume exported by the country this season, 84.9% were Arabica grain, 3.6% 11.5%, instant coffee and only 0.1% coffee roasted and ground.
The retreat of international prices of Arabica coffee, which is hurting exporters ' and producers ' revenues, is motivated by the prospect of large volumes of product on the market. But the productive sector disputes this. To give more transparency to the market, the National Council (CNC), which represents producers, cooperatives and associations will disclose each quarter the volume of grain stocked from 48 cooperatives, according to Silas, President of the entity. This week, the CNC will disclose the volume of coffee stored in cooperatives in December 31, 2012 and March 30 of this year.
