Readjustment of drugs cannot overcome 6.31%

SAO PAULO-the price adjustment of the remedies has been defined in three tracks, 6.31% (ceiling), 4.51% and 2.70% according to resolution number 2 of the Board of market regulation of Medicines (Cmed), published in today's Edition of "Diário Oficial da União".
The Health Minister Alexandre Padilha, had in advance that the readjustment of the medicines would not be higher than the official inflation, measured by the IPCA, 6.31% in 12 months ending in February this year.
To apply the adjustment, however, the drug companies will have to submit by tomorrow, marketing report last year to the Executive Secretariat of Cmed.
In accordance with resolution published today, medicines classified at level 1 (therapeutic classes with generic share revenues equal to or greater than 20%) will be re-set of 6.31%; the classified at level 2 (featuring generics in revenues equal to or greater than 15%, and below 20%) will be with 4.51%, and classified at level 3 (featuring generics in billing below 15%)will be adjusted in 2.70%.
The relationship of drugs in each level will still be published in the home page of the national health surveillance agency (Anvisa).
The resolution points out that the price adjustment for 2013 follows a new calculation formula, based on a model of price ceiling based on the variation of the IPCA accumulated from March 2012, until February 2013, inclusive, by a factor of productivity, in a plot of relative price adjustment factor intrassetor and a portion of relative price adjustment factor between sectors, in three levels, as defined in resolution No. 1, Cmed March 8, 2013 "
The Cmed is formed by members from the ministries of health, finance, Civil House and of development, industry and foreign trade.
According to the resolution, the companies producing medicines should give wide publicity to the prices of its products through specialized publications of wide circulation and pharmacies must keep at the disposal of consumers and of consumer protection the drug pricing lists updated, calculated in accordance with the resolution.
