Purchase of Skype by Microsoft is approved in Brazil

The purchase of Skype by Microsoft has been approved in Brazil without restrictions. The Court of the Administrative Council for economic Defense (Cade) has validated the acquisition on trial held on Wednesday, 3.
According to Cade, the operation has also been approved in the United States, European Union, Russia, Taiwan, Serbia and Ukraine.
The acquisition will allow the integration of multimedia messaging service Skype with Microsoft's products and services such as Windows Live Messenger (MSN Messenger) and Hotmail.
The company has already announced that it migrating from MSN Messenger to Skype starts on April 8 for English-speaking users. The change of the Portuguese version of the service will take place from April 30. Skype is available in 38 languages. For now, only China does not enter the list of migration of platforms.
Yesterday, Skype announced that its users spend 2 billion minutes a day connected to the service, equivalent to 33 million hours.
According to Cade, Microsoft reported that the free Skype functions will continue to be offered at no cost to customers. In addition, the company's plan is to expand the use of Skype for TVs and other devices, such as video games Xbox and Kinect.
In May 2011, Microsoft paid $ 8.5 billion for the purchase of Skype.
