KSB raises production of valves with new plant in SP

Traditional manufacturer of hydraulic pumps, KSB is investing to advance in the market. The multinational, of German origin, is in Brazil since 1954, with the manufacture of bombs. The older valves Division for the company in other countries, just happened to have operations here in 2005, when the KSB bought the Brazilian industry of valves and controls (IVC).
At the time of the acquisition, KSB took a rented unit in São Paulo. Now, this production was moved to Jundiai (SP), in a larger unit and with leaner processes, which will be formally inaugurated today. "Strengthen the activities in is part of our strategy to diversify the business," said the President of the company in the country, Carmelo Fernandez molds.
According to moulds, the production capacity of the valves was multiplied by three. Last year, KSB won $ 350 million in the country. Of this total, 11%, or $ 40 million, came from the Division of valves. In five years, the goal is that the Division reach revenues of r $ 100 million and respond by at least one-sixth of the local revenue.
The valve is similar to the clientele. The biggest demand comes from the oil and gas sector and there are great expectations with the pre-salt and advance notice of new refineries, as Premium I and II Premium of Petrobras, which will be built in the State of Maranhão and Ceará respectively. "They are among the main reasons for our investments," said the Executive.
The President claims that another interesting factor is that the manufacture of valves in Brazil is sprayed. "It has a very large space to grow". While the market consolidated pumps are among the few companies, the main the KSB, Sulzer and Flowserve.
The investment, which will total $ 50 million, also provides a new serial pumps unit, to be built in the same area in Jundiaí. According to Molds, was scheduled to open the two simultaneously. Because of "internal procedures", it was decided to postpone this part of the investment.
The Executive said that 80% of value has already been committed. According to him, the project is to bring the production of serial Vineyard drive pumps (SP), that is overallocated to the new plant in 2014. "Probably we have to extrapolate this value of r $ 50 million."
As the demand for pumps was suppressed in the past six months, was one factor that allowed the postponement of investment. According to moulds, oil projects that were delayed, in particular Petrobras Comperj and refineries Abreu e Lima, had a strong impact on revenue of the Division. A third of purchases of KSB pumps sector. In the area, the oil and gas industry weighs even more, accounts for 80%.
