Holding R.P., Erasmo Battistella, purchase slaughterhouse Frinal

The R.P. Administration and Participation, the holding company of the President of the biodiesel producer BSBIOS, Erasmus Battistella, yesterday announced the acquisition of Frinal, poultry slaughterhouse located in the municipality of Garibaldi, Rio Grande do Sul. The value that the business was closed for approximately $ 80 million.
Founded in 1973 by Sebben family, the Frinal won $ 138 million in 2012. With integrated 845 190 employees, the refrigerator slaughter about 88 000 chickens per day. The company gets 40% of its revenue from exports of chicken meat.
According to Battistella, the Frinal will have their production expanded to 150 thousand chickens a day from July, when the unit will adopt another work shift. With this, the Gaucho businessman expects the refrigerator reach a turnover of r $ 210 million this year.
In the evaluation of Battistella, the cost crisis that struck the Brazilian poultry and boosted business as Agrovêneto sale to JBS last year, was not crucial to the business with the Frinal. According to the Executive, the financial situation of the Serra Gaúcha slaughterhouse is "good". "Even with the high corn and soybeans, the company was able to go through this period of crisis. The reason for the sale was a family decision that controlled Frinal ", justified it.
With the acquisition of Frinal, Battistella mark his debut in animal protein market. In addition to the BSBIOS-company controlled by his holding and by Petrobras Biofuels, the manager controls the Lavoro, agricultural machinery dealership of John Deere in Passo Fundo (RS), and invests in power generation through its holding company.
Battistella points out that any partnership between the BSBIOS and Frinal in the supply of soybean meal, one of the major components of animal feed, will be strictly business, following the same lines of the BSBIOS agreements with companies like JBS and BRF.
Recently, biodiesel producer chaired by Battistella expanded the grain network in Rio Grande do Sul, with the acquisition of 3 units of receipt and storage of grain and a rail terminal of the Coxilha Fertilizers. With this operation, the BSBIOS holds the raw material for the production of soybean meal of 700 thousand tons to 800 tons per year.
