ADM will begin to act in the area of sunflower in Brazil

The American multinational ADM, one of the biggest agribusiness companies in the world, will begin to operate in the Brazilian market of bran and sunflower oil in the second half of this year. Big soybean crusher in Brazil, ADM already works with Sunflower in countries such as Germany, Ukraine and Bolivia.
The company already supports dozens of farmers in the region of Campo Novo do Parecis, in Western Mato Grosso, which will buy the crop that will be processed in a factory of the company Terasol in the municipality. Part of the oil will follow to a refining unit of ADM in Rondonópolis, in the southeast of the State.
Both Terasol factory as the refining unit of WMD are in the works and should be ready in August, shortly after the beginning of the sunflower crop in the region. ADM does not disclose the value of the contributions that are being made in plants.
According to Alex Maccioni, Director of ADM grain processing of Brazil, the partner factory will have capacity to process Terasol 100 thousand tons of grain per year, but is expected to start operating with between 30 000 and 40 000 tonnes.
According to Conab, the sunflower planting occupies 70 thousand hectares in Brazil in 2012/13 season, 6% less than in 2011/12, and the production will reach 100.2 tons, 13.9 percent less. Mato Grosso leads the production, with 40.5 thousand acres and harvest forecast of 60.8 thousand tonnes in 2012/13-14% of retractions and 23.4%, respectively.
Second Maccioni, the project's main focus of ADM is sunflower oil production aimed at the domestic market, where, as the Executive, the demand has doubled in the last ten years and the growth potential is still great.
Domestic consumption of sunflower oil is about 60 thousand tonnes per year (3.5 million boxes), or just over 0.3 pound per inhabitant. In Brazil, the consumption of bottled soy oil, for example, surpasses 100 million cartons per year, and in Europe the demand per capita of sunflower oil reaches 8 pounds.
In the segment of vegetable oils, the ADM operates today in Brazil with the product made from soybean processing, sold with the Concord and Corcovado. The company has production units of soy oil in Rondonópolis, Campo Grande (MS), Joaçaba (SC) and Uberlândia (State of Minas Gerais). It also has a biodiesel plant in Rondonópolis, the largest in the country, and develops a project with Palm in Pará.
ADM maintains direct operations in Brazil since 1997. The multi does not disclose the results of the branch, but, according to the Bureau of foreign trade (Secex), its exports, pulled by soybeans, yielded $ 3.8 billion in 2012, 15.1% in 2011. The company was the sixth largest exporter in the country in 2012.
