Supercell, another creator of hit games Finland

One of the latest crazes in the online gaming industry again comes from Finland. The game developer Supercell Oy States that gives profit and that is winning more than $ 500,000 a day with two games: "Clash of Clans", medieval, strategy and "Hay Day", an application to manage a virtual farm.
The new company, created two years ago, transferred his 80 employees to a deserted office complex by felled manufacturer of Nokia Corp., a sign of the times in Helsinki. The city has spawned great game developers, including the Rovio Entertainment Ltd, who invented the "Angry Birds".
Since the Supercell launched his two free games in mid-2012, the number of downloads has exploded and the billing with "in-game" purchased by players-as credits to speed up the progress of the games-put the "Clash of Clans" at the top of the ranking of the Apple store in the United States and the "Hay Day" in the third position. This puts the company on the same level as giants like Eletrocic Arts Inc. and Zinga Inc.
The Supercell, but must avoid the fate of game developers that eke out to continue striking new successes. Its executives say that the Supercell managed to avoid failures because it eliminates projects with bad prospects already at the beginning of its development.
"The truth is that we are good in the failures. Last year, we released our first two games at the Apple store and both had great success, "said Ilkka Paananen, of 34 years, the Chief Executive Officer and one of the founders of the company. "But what really made us succeed were the four games that we abort before being launched." According to him, the Supercell must release new games this year.
The company assembles small project groups, which calls the cells, usually with a maximum of 10 employees, who work with wide freedom in relation to heads and approvals.
"This approach allows us to do the job until the end," says Drussila Hollanda, a Brazilian who lived in Berlin before moving to Helsinki to work in Supercell.
To recruit talents, the company has had to fight against his hard climate and location remote from the country. In addition, it is difficult for Finnish companies to compete with the high wages, according to Olli Sotamaa, a researcher at Tampere, Univerisdade in Finland, and an expert on local gaming industry.
Drussila says that the wages in Supercell are "high," without specifying how much, and who felt attracted by Finland due, in part, to public education and health systems.
Kevin Comolli, of Accel Partners, a company that has invested in companies like Rovio and Facebook Inc., said he has not seen in its portfolio such accelerated growth as claiming the Supercell. In 2011, the Accel invested $ 10.4 billion in the company.
The Supercell search make their attractive games developing carefully its "core loops", which are the central series of repetitive actions of the games. "The 10% that pay for in-game items sponsor the games for everybody," says Paananen. "If you do right, it's a very profitable model."
