Positive profit falls 79%, but is above projections

The result of the Positivo Informática Q4 2012 topped analysts estimates by value. The computer maker had net income of r $ 9.4 billion, with drop of 79.4% in comparison with the same period in 2011. The net revenue was R $ 685,6 million, up 11%.
The expected scenario was worse. Bradesco analysts estimated that the company would present high of 7.3% in revenue, to $ 662,3 million, with 82% less profit, of $ 8.4 million. Credit Suisse had revenue projection of $ 633 million, 2.4% more than in the fourth quarter of 2011, with profit of $ 5.3 million, a fall of 88.4%.
The Good sold 605.6 million notebooks and desktops in the quarter, 24% less than in 2011. According to the company, the fall was a result of lower orders for public projects in the area of education, which had presented a high performance in the same quarter of the previous year.
Sales of tablets rose more than 500 percent, to 68.2 million machines. The increase was boosted by the launch of the second generation of the product and the deliveries for the Ministry of education (MEC).
Throughout the year of 2012, the company had profit of $ 30.2 million, reversing a loss of r $ 70 million in 2011. The result was above the projection of R $ 28.4 million from the brokerage firm Coinvalores.
