Multinationals buy auto parts companies in Brazil

Two Brazilian companies of the automotive industry, auto parts and other of rubber products were sold to multinational companies this week. Yesterday, the American Group announced the purchase of Dayco Nytron, manufacturer of units/tensioners in Itapira (SP), for undisclosed amount. The Japanese Toyo Tires must pay $ 15.5 million by Produflex, with factories in Sao Paulo and Minas Gerais.
The sale of Produflex was released by the Japanese newspaper Nikkei, but has not yet been confirmed in Brazil. The Brazilian company employs 430 employees and provides rubber components for various automakers, especially the Fiat. Toyo is one of the largest producers of tyres in the world and has four factories in South America.
Founded 20 years ago by a family group, the Nytron is a national leader of the tensioners, aftermarket item that makes up the engine of the car system. With the purchase, Dayco, who also leads the country sales of automotive belts, happens to be the biggest supplier of these two items in the aftermarket.
"Our goal is to make Nytron also a big exporter to South America and Europe," says the Vice President of Dayco, Ronaldo Teffeha. Dayco has two factories in Brazil (São Paulo and Minas Gerais) and one in Argentina and exports 20% of its production to South America, Europe and China.
According to Teffeha, the acquisitions in Brazil "does not end there". The Group expects to earn $ 150 million this year (7% in 2012) evaluates new acquisitions, but he does not reveal details.
The President of the National Union of vehicle components industry (Sindipeças), Paulo Butori, States that there is a new movement of denationalization of enterprises in the sector, as a result of financial difficulties which many face.
"With crises in Europe, USA and Japan, many multinational companies have turned to the Brazil and end up acquiring local companies," says Butori. In 1994, the domestic enterprises accounted for 52% of total revenues in the sector of auto parts, that participation in 2011 fell to 30%.
