Lemann buys 20% of Diletta to make it premium brand

The background of businessman Jorge Paulo Lemann, the richest man in the Country, has just quit buying 20% of Diletta, for $ 100 million. The premium ice cream maker with a factory in Cotia (SP) and 3 thousand points of sale all over Brazil, was established in 2007, by Leandro Scabin, who will continue as President of the company.
Negotiations began about a year ago when the own Lemann contacted Diletta. The idea is to copy the model of major brands of ice cream, such as Häagen-Dazs and Mövenpick, which sell their products in supermarkets, bakeries and coffee shops as in points.
Last year, grossed Diletto approximately r $ 30 million and the forecast for this year is to reach $ 50 million. The company, until the beginning of 2011, delegated its production to a third-party manufacturer.
The ingredients came from Italy and the process was overseen by Scabin. With investments of r $ 10 million (funded by the BNDES), Diletta inaugurated the factory of Cotia, also with machines imported from Italy. The production capacity is 300 tons. For this Easter period, the network also created the chocolate ice cream with crunchy flavor made with Belgian chocolate and Amaretto-the Granela Congratulate del giorno of Diletta. The gourmet flavor comes in limited edition, with a special kit.
