Importers of automobiles should review sales forecast this year

To the national car market prospects are encouraging, the importers in Brazil are reviewing their concepts. The projection that sales of imported cars could reach 150 thousand units in this year will be recalculated.
"The sales projection of 150 thousand units considers monthly average of 12 thousand units per month. However, in January and February had volume of 7 to 8 thousand. Let's wait for March, there may be recovery but we must revise downwards these forecasts, "said the President of the Brazilian Association of importing companies (Abeiva) vehicles, Flávio Padovan.
Last month, the Association affiliated with 7,185 vehicles sold, compared with the same month of 10,427 2012 — a decline of 31.1%. The volume is above the internal market, which was 5.6%.
However, Padovan believes that there may be an improvement in the coming months. "The units of the Innovate-Auto for imported vehicles, which exempt the 30 percentage points up to maximum ceiling of 4,800 units/year or historical ceiling of 2009 to 2011, will show results more favourable to the official importers from its uses in this first quarter of the year," said the Executive who is also Chairman of Land Rover/Jaguar.
Also according to Abeiva President, despite the February sales have been lower than February 2012 total volumes, the average daily of plates issued rose from 392 units/day for 399 units/day, i.e. a small 1.8% reaction in this quarter. February last year had 29 days.
Another factor that can assist in annual Abeiva goal is enabling the Audi and BMW on the InovarAuto. BMW already has taken and announced the reduction of its price list, while Audi also received the license, but still has not disclosed if haverámudanças on the values charged.
Audi is to announce next month whether or not to have a factory in Brazil. The President of the Brazilian subsidiary, Leandro Radomille, said it is with travel to Germany. In the back he should bring in the trunk the decision matrix.
At the end of last year, the Executive has predicted that the economic feasibility studies for the resumption of production in the country would in the first half of this year.
The proposal should even avenge is the production sharing with Volkswagen. This due to the lower cost for deploying the Assembly line. By the rules of the Government, the minimum investment of automakers is r $ 17 thousand for an installed capacity of 30 thousand cars, which would lead the company to invest $ 510 million. "But all this will really set in 2013," said Radomille.
The idea of sharing production with VW, in Paraná, would be a return to the origins, since it was in São José dos Pinhais that the German automaker began producing in the country in 1999. This line lasted until 2006.
Audi and Volkswagen shared the same platform. At the time, come out of the production lines the VW Golf and the Audi A3. This strategy lasted until the change of the two models.
