Carrefour's profit triples in 2012

The retailer reported today (7/3), which earned net profit of 1.233 billion euros last year, down from 371 million euros in 2011. The result represents high of 232.3%.
The result is assigned to the network controller, excluding the participation of minority shareholders. Total income, which includes the portion of minority shareholders, rose to 1.316 billion euros, compared to the 404 million euros in 2011.
According to the company, the Ebitda (earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation and amortization) declined by approximately 1.6%, going to 3.688 billion euros in 2012, up from 3.748 billion euros in 2011.
Latin America
Carrefour said it intends to continue to expand its operations in Latin America and Asia. In addition, the company said it wants to strengthen its operations in Brazil, Argentina and France.
In 2012, sales in Latin America grew by 12.1% at constant exchange and 4.6% under the current exchange rate, reaching 14.174 billion euros. Sales were supported by solid performances in Brazil and in Argentina. The recurring operating income in the region increased by 14.2%, going to 608 million euros.
