Sony seeks to anticipate the rival Xbox with new version of PlayStation

Sony has announced it will launch the new generation of its PlayStation this year, and expects its first video game console in seven years will provide a much-needed head start on the next version of Microsoft Xbox, helping to revive its electronics operations problems.
The new console will have a revamped interface and allow users to play video games hosted on servers, and do so while driving down other games or share videos with friends. The new control, called Dual-Shock 4, will feature a touch screen and a camera able to perceive the depth of the environment before it.
Sony, which has already shown the new control but not yet showed the island, stated that the PlayStation 4 would come to stores in the season of celebrations of the end of the year, and that would count with producing titles such as Ubisoft Entertainment and Activision Blizzard, whose top executives attended the loudmouthed launch ceremony.
The company did not reveal the exact launch date or price.
Sony's announcement comes amid speculation in the industry that Microsoft should reveal the successor to your Xbox 360 in the third quarter of this year. The current Xbox 360 offers an online network greater than that of the PlayStation 3, with features such as voice commands in interactive games and better connectivity with smartphones and tablets.
But all video game consoles manufacturers must face the advancements of mobile devices in their territory.
The tablets, and smartphones produced by rivals like Apple and Samsung Electronics already account for about 10% of the annual $ 80 billion handled by video game market. These mobile devices, analysts predict, in a few years will be as powerful as the current crop of video game consoles. "It looks good, with many great games, but the sector has changed now," said Billy Pidgeon, an analyst at Inside Network Research, about the new PlayStation. "Growth will be slower, and not take off at high speed," he added.
Migration to equipment manufacturers of consoles also will face a drop in sales of hardware and Software, that the research group NPD estimates have reduced in each month of last year, due to the migration of users for free games for use on mobile devices.
The PlayStation 4 will have an app for Android and Apple devices, allowing to connect to games on consoles and work as second screen, said Jack Tretton, Chief Executive of Sony Computer Entertainment of America, in an interview.
The console, which has been in development for five years, will have eight gigabytes of memory and can instantly stream content from games for the handheld PlayStation Vita, through a feature called "Remote Play", said the company.
"Sony is betting on the ease of use of the system," said Greg Miller, executive editor of PlayStation video game site IGN.com.
