Professor of the IMT award jury integrates DuPont Packaging

For the third consecutive year, a Brazilian jury award is part of DuPont packaging innovation, one of the most renowned events in the industry. Antonio Carlos Dana Cabral, professor and coordinator of the postgraduate course in packaging Engineering of Mauá Institute of technology, will meet with other professionals in the industry to assess the entries in the 25th edition of the prize, which this year has as its central theme technologies that contribute to the reduction of food waste.
"Our country is gaining more and more relevance on the international packaging market due to innovations and performance of our industry professionals," says Karen Milena Guedes, Marketing Manager for DuPont Packaging Industrial Polymers & Brazil and Latin America. The Executive points out that in recent years the Country has recorded growth in the number of entries, which confirms the potential and opportunities in the industry. In 2012, Brazil submitted 32 projects, an increase of 68% when compared with the 2011 edition.
"The prize, open to professionals who design, create, manufacture and packaging, is one of the landmarks of the international packaging market, given the seriousness and consistency of your criteria. For this reason, it is with great pleasure that I shape the jury this year ", says Antonio Cabral. This is the third edition of the award that will be attended by a juror. Agha Borghi, packaging development manager of Grupo Pão de Açúcar, and Alvaro Azanha, Chief Technology Officer at Sadia, have integrated the juries of 2012 and 2011 editions, respectively.
The jury will also be composed of other representatives of the packaging industry, whose names are listed below.
Brian Wagner, the Packaging Hall of Fame and Vice-President of PTIS (HAVI global solutions company), will lead the Panel as a facilitator during the awards ceremony.
Suzanne Fisher, Director of sustainable packaging and new business development for the Pratt Industries, United States.
Mary Gregg, Director of Campbell North America Packaging and Global Research Director & development for Campbell Soup Company, United States.
Sudhakar Gupta, Director of new business development of IFFCO Group of Companies at International Food Stuffs Company, UAE.
Ann O'Hara, Vice President and General Manager of Amcor Flexibles, Australia.
Jeff Schuetz, Vice President global technology and packaging of Sonoco, United States.
Jason Wadsworth, sustainability manager of Wegmans Food Markets, Inc., United States.
The winners of the 25th DuPont Award for Innovation in Packaging will be honored on May 16 during a special ceremony that will be held in Wilmington, Delaware (USA). In addition, the authors of the winning projects will have the opportunity to participate in an educational program with the jury of the prize, opportunity to exchange experiences. The deadline for entries in the award is up to February 28, 2013.
During the analysis of the projects, the jury will consider excellence in one or more of the following areas: innovation, sustainability and cost reduction/waste. There is no registration fee and the DuPont materials need not be part of the structure of packaging. Forms, guidelines and past winners can be found at the website http://www.packaging.dupont.com.
