Zogbi back in the paper industry and project launches $ 2.5 billion

Almost ten years after the sale of Ripasa paper for the former Votorantim Celulose e Papel (VCP) and Suzano, businessman Osmar Elias Zogbi back to the sector with an ambitious project: building a pulp mill in Tocantins in partnership with a foreign group.
Zogbi runs the Eco-forest Brazil, owner of the largest Brazilian independent forestry project. He negotiates with a producer from outside the construction of a eucalyptus fiber in Northern Tocantins, with start-up scheduled for 2017 or 2018 and estimated investments of $ 2.5 billion.

"Several groups have already demonstrated interest and Eco Forests wants to be the channel for a new large foreign investment in Brazilian pulp industry" said Zogbi the value. Founded in 2007, the company's shareholders the ZDA, the holding company that gathers several Ripasa their previous owners, with participation of 35%; the Claritas Investments, with 25%; the BRZ Investimentos, with 18%; the Safra group, with 15%; and BR Partners, with 7%. Project designed by the Finnish consulting Pöyry provides a line with the capacity to produce 1.5 million tons of pulp. To supply a unit of this size, are required 150 thousand hectares planted-Eco Forests plan to reach 180 thousand hectares of land of their own, with 100 thousand hectares planted, and will ensure other 50 thousand hectares of eucalyptus through rental or promotion.
Beyond Forest Eco project, until 2017 must get into operation a new the Suzano pulp factory in Maranhão, a production unit in Uruguay in the Stora Enso and Arauco, the expansion of CMPC Riograndense, Cellulose Guaíba (RS), Klabin's new factory and, probably, the second line of Fibria's unit in Mato Grosso do Sul. Will be more than 7 million tons of additional short-fiber pulp and softwood in the world market, that promise to push the share price of the raw material.
