Pirelli brings to Brazil new solar technology for steam production

The Italian multinational Pirelli chose Brazil to receive your pilot project of steam production by means of solar collectors. The company will invest 1.3 million euros, in partnership with the Italian Ministry of environment, to install the equipment in its manufacturing unit located in Feira de Santana, in the State of Bahia.
"We chose Brazil because the domestic market is very receptive to innovations. Here, things happen quickly and become global trend ", explained the Director General of the Italian Ministry of environment, Corrado Clinically, during the official presentation of the project held yesterday in Sao Paulo.
The devices were developed by the Angelantoni Group and will contribute to the reduction of carbon emissions generated by local production. For this, the equipment will be connected directly to the steam lines used in the manufacture of tires. The solar collectors will be composed of 16 modules and will have a length of approximately 2,400 m².
"We know that Brazil has a vested interest in promoting renewable energy and pollution control. Like other industries, the Pirelli also pollutes, so we developed this idea to reduce our carbon emissions, "said the President of Pirelli to South America, Paolo dal Pino.
The Italian multinational estimates that the pilot project brought to the country will be able to reduce about 2 thousand tons of carbon emissions in five years. According to the company, the peak power of the equipment installed at the factory of Feira de Santana can reach 1.4 MW thermal.
The installation of the solar collectors should begin still this year, with completion expected in the second half of next year, more precisely, at the end of July. "We still don't know the total amount of carbon emissions we can reduce through this project. Therefore, we will use the next year to perform all the necessary experiences, "said Pirelli's energy Manager, Mario Apollonio.
Also according to Clinically, the pilot project conceived by Pirelli also comes to the national market in an important moment, with the Government encouraging more and more industrial investments in renewable energy sources, in addition to the reduction in carbon emission levels.
