The first Chromebook, notebook with operating system Chrome OS has just arrived at Brazil. The computer manufacturer Acer announced the arrival of the model country, C710 price of $ 1,299. The ChromeOS is based on cloud computing, a technology widely used for online services that store files on servers that can be accessed from any web-connected device. Email services and social networking using technology to work.
The system was designed to run on machines with little memory and processing, since all the processing load is performed in the cloud, as well as the storage of files. Currently, the system is available in notebooks from Acer, Asus, HP and Samsung.
The new notebook from Samsung has 16 GB flash memory, but as the cloud-based system, the user can store files in the Google Drive or other backup services in the cloud. Acer and Google offer 100 GB of space on the Google Drive for two years for those who buy the new Chromebook.
The Brazil receives the first Chromebook about four years after Google launched cloud-based operating system in the us. The model announced by Acer is part of the third generation of the Chromebooks brand, which launched its first Chromebook in 2011. "We want to achieve the user who needs a computer easy to use," says Anderson Kanno, product manager at Acer.
Promising market
The Chromebook from Acer, however, arrives with little price competitive with low-cost notebooks, which can be found in Brazil until in the range below $ 1,000. In the same price range, other notebooks with more advanced specifications, such as the X102BA, manufactured by Asus, already offer more powerful processors and touchscreen. However, the model of Asus runs Windows 8, traditional operating system, different from the model proposed by ChromeOS.
The Chromebook tries to conquer the search public mobility, so must compete directly with the tablets, category that goes through an explosion of sales in Brazil. As leverage, the tablets feature a format more enjoyable to consume content and long battery life, often close to 10:0, while the Chromebook have battery life of only 3.5 hours.
According to Acer, the manufacturer has the expectation that the Chromebook succeed in Brazil, as occurs in the United States. The notebooks with ChromeOS remains on the list of top sellers of several e-commerce sites, like Amazon, competing directly with traditional models of large manufacturers such as Lenovo and HP. "we are long-time partners of Google and we believe in offering a multitude of systems for the consumer," says Kanno.
