75% of Brazilians consume chocolate

Research commissioned by ABICAB-Associação Brasileira da Indústria de Chocolates, cocoa, peanuts, hard candies and derivatives – reveals that more than seven out of 10 Brazilians consume chocolate. The study, conducted by IBOPE intelligence, shows that 75% of the population consumes food and 35% does not return the chocolate on the other food or drink. The survey heard 2,002 people from different age groups, social classes and regions of the country and identified the main consumption habits when it comes to chocolate bars, confectionery, chocolate, truffles, among other categories.
The chocolate is part of the shopping cart of most Brazilians and the flavor to the milk is the champion, with 58% of the lovers ' preference. The classes A/B are the ones that consume more chocolate. And after Easter, winter, Christmas and Valentine's day are the periods when consumption increases: 23%, 16% and 11%, respectively. The study also shows that factors such as type of chocolate or packing is more important than the brand and the price at the time of giving, according to 57 percent of the respondents.
The data also reveal that the pleasure and satisfaction are the primary sensations obtained by eating chocolate, for 61%. No wonder that 88% of consumers purchase the product for personal use. In this relationship of passion, women are ahead of men, representing 56% of the consumer public.
