Tiger-ADS will have new factory in the northeast of the country

The company is the supplier of pipes for rainwater drainage from the enlargement of Viracopos
Tigre-ADS, the joint venture with the American Tiger Brazilian ADS (Advanced Drainage Systems Inc.), will inaugurate at the beginning of next year its second plant in Brazil. The new plant will be in Marechal Deodoro, metropolitan region of Maceió (AL). The goal is to supply the markets of the North and northeast of the country. "We observed a lack of products in the region," said José Cattani, Director-General of Tiger-ADS. The company already owns since 2011 factory in Rio Claro (SP).
The company, which produces large diameter tubes for infrastructure works, which can be applied, for example, in drainage and sanitation, has operations in other countries of Latin America, but sees Brazil as a large market.
"Our tubes can be applied, for example, in several works of the transport sector, such as airports, bus terminals, ports, railroads, among others. The Brazil is undergoing major infrastructure works, drawn by the World Cup and the Olympics. There is a sea of opportunities ", explained the Executive, which expects a growth of 20% in the next year.
Since the inauguration of the factory in 2011, the company has signed contracts in important works such as the Sambodromo in Rio, the Mayor of São Paulo and some stadiums and structures that are being built for the World Cup and the Olympics. "The rainwater drainage system is the flagship and represents about 70% of our business," said Cattani.
Company firm contract with consortium of Viracopos
The newest contract was signed with the Consortium Viracopos Constructor (CCV), responsible for the expansion of the international airport of Viracopos, located in Campinas (SP). Tigre-ADS will provide deep pipe that makes up the rainwater drainage system at the site. One of the goals is to reduce the time of completion of the project, for which the airport is opened in may 2014. Therefore, the CCV opted for polyethylene hoses, which decrease by as much as 50% installation time compared to other technologies. This is the first airport in the clients ' portfolio of Tiger-ADS. The investment in this project was to the tune of r $ 1.9 million.
The main function of the system installed at Viracopos is capturing rainwater and direct it to the galleries that carry out cellular the drainage system in the body end receiver. Tiger pipes-ADS are being installed in the taxi lanes and courtyards of aircraft and about 50% of the work is already completed.
The rainwater drainage on the slopes and patios is fundamental to that water does not accumulate on the surface of the pavement, which would endanger the operation of the airport. But Cattani does not contract expansion to other areas, such as the parking of cars.
"Our great advantage is innovation in the product type, which is lighter and easy to install. Our corrugated pipes have connection system with o-rings, dispensing other material to finish and does not allow any leak ", he explained.
Outside the country, the tubes manufactured by ADS are already in u.s. airports, such as Hartsfield Atlanta, Syracuse, Salt Lake City, Niagra Falls, among others. In 2012, the Tigre group grossed $ 3.1 billion.
Sports is in the drainage plans
In addition to the new plant, Tigre-ADS makes studies to bring to Brazil the manufacture of tubes that can be applied in drainage projects of football fields and golf courses.
"We're still analyzing the national market to find out if it's worth it. For now, solutions that are already manufactured by ADS in the United States can be brought here, "said José Cattani, Director General of the company.
According to the Brazilian Golf Confederation, there are currently 120 fields in the country and the number of practitioners of the sport only grows. In 2000, there were only 7,000 practitioners and today has over 25 thousand.
Tigre-ADS produces and sells corrugated pipe of high-density polyethylene (HDPE) for infrastructure, mining, irrigation, drainage and landfills sport. Besides Brazil, company operates in South America with factories in Chile, Argentina and Colombia and has 175 employees. A new plant will also be inaugurated in Peru.
"We want to expand our activities in Colombia and Peru, because we also see growth potential in these countries," said Cattani.
