Sumitomo Rubber opens factory in PR in R$750 investment mi

SAO PAULO, Oct 3 (Reuters)-Sumitomo Rubber announced on Thursday the opening of its first tire factory in Brazil, in an investment of 750 million dollars at a time when the country's automakers invest in increased production.
The Japanese company, which sells Dunlop branded tires, aims to produce 2,000 tires a day for cars, SUVs and vans by the end of the year. The capacity of the unit, installed in Fazenda Rio Grande, in the metropolitan region of Curitiba, is 15 thousand tires per day.
The expectation is to reach the capacity of 15 thousand tires per day by the end of 2015, the company said in a statement to the market, adding that should generate 1,500 jobs until 2017.
"The production, in this first moment, will be destined to the market supply of spare parts, from a network of distributors." The company is studying plans for exports and production for cargo vehicles in the coming years.
The Brazilian production of vehicles accumulates high of 13.7 percent from January to August this year compared to the same period last year, with the manufacturing of 2.51 million units, according to Anfavea, an organization representing the industry. The expectation of entity is closing the year with a high of 12 percent, with 3.79 million vehicles produced.
