Delphi opens its 12th factory in Brazil

The Delphi began operation in a new factory in Brazil, in Mococa (SP). The unit produces power transmission systems for vehicles (electric harnesses), as well as seven other company plants in Brazil. "We must achieve the maximum number of employees in the coming months to produce up to 120 thousand whips per year," says Luiz Corrallo, President of the Organization for South America.
The new factory, which will employ 350 people, brings additional volume in the region, where the company delivers about 1 million systems annually for the production of automobiles and trucks. The Executive did not details the investment made in the unit, but points out that the Delphi applies around $ 40 million in local operation each year.
The company is working to bring to market aluminum cables for vehicles, which are up to 30% lighter than copper. "This technology is under test with customers and must have application in 2017," Corrallo reveals.
