Cellulose companies hit record highs in the third quarter

SAO PAULO-the expectation that the period between July and September were to become the best quarter in the history of Brazilian pulp and paper industry was confirmed. Benefit from a dollar more valued and by a broad policy of containment of expenditure, Fibria, Klabin and Suzano Papel e Celulose collect records and results already design a fourth quarter even more favorable. Terms like? robust? and? solid? have been used by executives in the industry to classify the quarter in which, together, the three companies broke for the first time the mark of r $ 1.6 billion in Ebitda.
The index, considered a benchmark of generating capacity from companies, totaled r $ 1,690 billion, surpassing the mark of R $ 1,541 billion in the fourth quarter of 2012.
The same occurred in the joint net revenue totaled r $ 4,564 billion. This is the first time that the result of companies beyond the barrier of $ 4.5 billion-the survey made by the Broadcast, real-time information service the Agência Estado, considers data since the beginning of the last decade.
So that the two marks were surpassed, was instrumental the Exchange's trajectory from last May. According to data from AE Rates, the average dollar of the third quarter stood at R $ 2,288, against R $ 2,069 of accumulated in the second quarter and $ 2,028 for the third quarter of 2012.
As the largest part of Fibria's recipe (approximately 90%) and Suzano (53%) is obtained with exports, the dollar appreciated boosts revenues in real, obtained from sales made in dollars. Another positive effect of the exchange rate for business happens in the domestic market: with the dollar appreciated, the competitiveness of the imported product shrinks, which makes room for a greater sales volume and price adjustments.
This is one of the factors that should enable the national paper and pulp industry renew in the fourth quarter provided best quarter in history. ?We're expecting a strong fourth quarter, with elevation of the results of the company in line with what happened between the third quarters?, stated, on Tuesday, 29, the General Director of Klabin, Fabio Schvartsman. Ebitda grew by 14% and reached a record of $ 426,28 million. The positive results have caught the attention of investors. Since the beginning of the year, shares of Fibria and the Suzano had already appreciated more than 20 percent. The information is from the newspaper O Estado de s. Paulo.
