Sale of corrugated board falls 0.86% in December

Domestic sales of corrugated board retreated 0.86% in December, compared with the same month of 2011, to 252.148 thousand tons, according to preliminary data released on Thursday (10) by the ABPO (Brazilian Association of corrugated board). The material serves as a thermometer for measuring economic activity in the country.
Front of the registered in November, the drop in shipments of sheets, plates and accessories of this type of paper was more expressive and 13.38%.
With this performance, domestic sales of cardboard, important bellwether of economic activity of the country, totaled 3.3 million tonnes in 2012, with a high of 2.77% compared to previous year, checked and marked a new record for the industry, as historical series of the ABPO.
For the past year, ABPO projected initially expansion between 2.5% and 3% on domestic sales of corrugated board.
