Nestlé has distribution problems and studying close new partnerships

Nestle, the world's largest food manufacturer, is having trouble handing out ice cream. The company, which has about 23% of this market and lose just for the brand, Unilever, Kibon reported that has "a problem points with a sole distributor" in Natal, Rio Grande do Norte, and João Pessoa, Paraíba, and that "is reviewing other opportunities and possibilities for new partners".
Supply failures, according to supermarket chains have been heard by the value, have also occurred in other Northeastern States and in the Central-West region. The multinational refuses and informs that has ice cream distributors 39, being ten to the North and northeast regions and five for the Midwest.
Nestlé has only an ice cream factory, in Jacarepaguá, Rio de Janeiro, and the distribution is outsourced, with truck. "Is an expensive operation [send ice cream from the River to the East]," says a source of a large supermarket chain.
Unilever, which has more than half the sales of ice cream in the country, with the trademark Kibon, ice cream has two factories in the country, in Valinhos, São Paulo; and Jaboatão dos Guararapes, Pernambuco.
In July of this year Unilever moved in his ice-cream distribution policy. Eliminated the most important plazas distributors-São Paulo and Rio – to increase the margin for negotiation with the big retail chains.
Nestle announces that it does not intend to take over the distribution of ice cream. Last week, the company took an important step in its policy of outsourcing: had the green light of the Cade (Conselho Administrativo de Defesa Econômica) for its partnership with Ambev, the largest beer manufacturer in the country. This will distribute two watermarks of Nestlé from February to small retailers in the Southeast, in Bahia and Paraná.
