Microsoft repaginates Office, one of his cars-heads, an eye on mobility

Since last year, the President of Microsoft, Steve Ballmer, has mentioned in the expression "wave of innovation", referring to the time in which the tech giant is going through. Since then the company has launched on the market items such as the tablet Surface and the Windows 8 operating system and tries to stop being known as a software company to be a company of "services and devices". Now, the ball of time in this strategy is the Office responsible for 30.5% of total revenue, which had a new version released yesterday.
"The new Office is a very important element for the wave of innovations that Microsoft is promoting", says Michel Levy, President of Microsoft in Brazil. The novelty is the availability of applications in the cloud, that is, accessible via the internet. The launch also initiates a new policy package update, which will happen automatically rather than every three months.
Office 365 Home Premium is available in Brazil for r $ 179 for the annual subscription (up to the first day of April) and offers 20 GB for storage and 60 minutes of Skype, which was bought in 2011 by Microsoft for $ 8.5 billion. "Skype is the younger brother of the family and there are many integration possibilities," says Roberto Prado, Director of Microsoft's competitiveness.
Market
The main competitor of Microsoft in the area of application packages "in the cloud" is Google with its Google Docs. Microsoft, however, avoids talking about a possible fight between the two for the market. "We at different levels, we have more products and services, we cannot compare", says Ana Carolina Garini, product manager for Microsoft.
In fact, Microsoft still nothing of stroke in this segment. The Office has 92% of corporate market in Brazil, according to the latest survey made the Getulio Vargas Foundation (FGV) on administration of it resources. And in the world the application package is used for one in every seven people, whether at home, at school or at work, totaling one billion users.
However, despite the leadership, the concept of offering such applications "in the cloud" was introduced by Google and Microsoft now follows the same trend, eyeing the growing mobility of users. "People want to be increasingly connected with all your devices and the new version has been created thinking on these changes," says Gabriela Y, product manager at Microsoft.
Beyond the Home Office Premium, were released also specific versions of package valid only for one computer and geared to college students ($ 239), small businesses ($ 589) and professional ($ 1079).
