ACI predicts 3% growth in sales of cars in 2013

SAO PAULO-the entity that houses the ACI car dealerships, today released its projections to 2013, which point to a growth of 3% in sales of cars and light commercials.
If confirmed the estimate, the market will move 3.74 million units this year, renewing the record of 3.63 million cars got their plates in 2012.
There is the expectation that the market lost impetus after the growth of 6.1% of license plates in 2012, a year in which the cuts at IPC raised sales of cars. The Government has already announced that it will withdraw gradually the tax rebates during the first half of this year.
The Anfavea-entity of automakers in the country – released last month expecting a growth of 3.5% to 4.5% in vehicle sales in 2013 – also putting in trucks and buses.
The Aci forecasts to 2013 include the expected growth of 16% in sales of trucks, which would be a recovery of part of the fall of 20.2% from last year. For the bus market, the entity provides for an advance of 4.1%, reaching 30.9 million units this year.
The Aci is also designing an expansion of 1.3% in sales of motorcycles in 2013, for a total of 1.66 million units. Last year, the two-wheeled segment had 15.6% drop in license plates, adding 1.64 million units.
