Garoto announces investments of about R$ 200 million in ES

Chocolates Garoto announced the investment plan of about R$ 200 million in its operations in Espírito Santo for 2020 and 2021.
The announcement was made on Tuesday (8) in a virtual event with the presence of the governor of Espírito Santo, Renato Casagrande (PSB). The occasion was also a celebration of Victoria's birthday.
According to the company, the announced investments will be directed to fronts ranging from the launch of new portfolio items, to the modernization and expansion of the company's unit in Vila Velha.
The local plant will receive a new building to house two new production lines. One of them will be dedicated to the manufacture of the brand's candy box and another line for the production of items to package the chocolates in retail packaging. With the start of these operations, scheduled for the first half of 2021, 70 new jobs will be generated.
Also according to the company, the new building of the unit was built following several sustainability criteria. On this front, Garoto announced that 100% of the waste generated by the plant is reused.
In 2021, the brand will reduce 69 tons of packaging materials that are recyclable but do not have a recycling chain in Brazil today. By 2024, this amount should reach 500 tonnes.
The investments are also destined for the modernization of the Vila Velha unit, to make it more digital and connected. Part of the investments will also be invested in the development of the company's professionals. Today, Garoto employs more than 1,370 employees and has more than 42 production lines.
"Today we are proud to say that we have brought to Garoto the best and most modern technology in the world to produce chocolates. For the new lines that we will inaugurate in 2021, for example, we will bring new technologies to chocolate factories in Latin America, with the use of internet of things and big data for monitoring and maintenance of operations. It was a project fully designed with this concept of digital transformation from the beginning. And we will use this to generate development for Espírito Santo and For Brazil," said The Vice President of Chocolates of Nestlé and Garoto, Liberato Milo.
The event was also attended by The Secretary of Government, Tyago Hoffmann; Development Secretary Marcos Kneip; Secretary of Agriculture, Supply, Aquaculture and Fisheries, Paulo Foletto; of the President of the Federation of Industries of Espírito Santo (Findes), Cris Samorini; the president of Espírito Santo em Ação, Fábio Brasileiro and the vice president of Fibrasa, Léo Castro.
