The 2019 coffee crop in Brazil, already harvested, was estimated on Wednesday (13) of 50 million bags of 60 kg, a reduction of 0.5% compared to the projection of the previous month, according to a survey released by the Brazilian Institute of Geography and Statistics (IBGE).
Compared to 2018, the year of the biannual cycle of Arabica coffee, production in 2019 was down 16.5%, according to IBGE.
For Arabica, the estimated production was 34.8 million bags of 60 kg, a decline of 0.8% compared to the previous month.
In Espírito Santo, estimates declined 8.7% due to the 8.5% drop in average income, the institute explained. The planted area and the area to be harvested declined 0.1%, IBGE added in a report.
For conilon coffee, Brazil's production was estimated at 15.2 million bags of 60 kg, up 0.1% compared to the previous month.
