Kimberly Clark closes another factory

Kimberly Clark factory in Conway closes after a company announcement. With the closure of the factory, it will affect at least 350 jobs, according to Lance Turner of Arkansas Business. The factory will be closed in the next 18 to 24 months and will be closed until 2021. The news of the closing occurs after the Kimberly Clark has reached an agreement with the Governor of Wisconsin, Scott Walker, to keep open a factory there. The State of Wisconsin shall pay to the Kimberly Clark $ $28 million over five years in Exchange for keeping open the Cold Spring plant. According to Arkansas Business, company officials told the Conway Chamber of Commerce in the summer that was considering closing the factory in Conway. The Conway plant has been in operation for over 50 years. "We set up a very aggressive package with local residents also – you know, the town of Conway and your Chamber of Commerce," said Brandi Hinkle to Arkansas Business. Hunkle is a spokesman for the Arkansas economic development Commission. "But we had to be careful and always consider what would return, and we simply weren't willing-or able-to do something that was not beneficial to the State." AEDC will help transition staff, offering training, according to Hinkle. The factory in Maumelle must remain open. Kimberly Clark should resign from 12% to 13% of your workforce, which means that about 5,000 employees will be affected.
