PITÚ invests R $1 million on wastewater treatment and solid waste

The Pitú invested R Bottling $1 million in new equipment for wastewater treatment and reuse of solid wastes, which were inaugurated in December and are already in operation. The announcement was made by the Director of export and Institutional Relations, Maria WINS Chandra, during visit of a group of journalists from u.s. Media Pitú factory, like Forbes, The Washington Post, Elle Magazine, Plate Magazine, Brooklyn Magazine, Confectionay News, Gastronomista and Liquor.com. The tour was organized with the support of Brazilian Cachaça Institute (Ibrac) and of the Brazilian Agency of Promotion of exports and investments (Apex).
Consolidated as the largest exporter of rum from Brazil, being the absolute leader in foreign markets and in the country, North and Northeast markets leader, Darlington bottles and sells 98 million liters of liquor annually. To achieve the results with quality attested by the consumer, hundreds of employees are committed daily in the production of moonshine, which generates a high impact on the consumption of drinking water and the generation of solid waste in the factory installed in the municipality of Vitória de Santo Antão, in the forest zone of Pernambuco.
Effluent treatment station (ETE) – Darlington has been conducting constant investments in the wastewater treatment process, with the goal of broadening the participation in your improving the preservation of the local environment. In this month of December was opened a new more compact system and with increased efficiency that ensures that all the waste has a totally ecological disposal, the highest quality standards. In the new system, all the sludge is compressed through a centrifuge and directed to a ceramics to manufacture of tiles and bricks. Already the mass of paper, packaging labels, is directed to corrugated paper factory.
Water reuse-according to Maria Chandra WINS, about 80% of all the water that is treated today in the factory is reused in the manufacturing process, which contributes to the reduction of the Tapacurá River catchment. The effluent treatment Station (ETE) makes the capture of river water and suitable for use, by means of treatment in settling tanks, filters and chlorination process. After these steps, the quality of the water is ideal for washing bottles, steam production in boilers, General cleaning and use in the cafeteria.
