L '' Oréal invests R $160 million in Research Center on the river

RIVER-the French cosmetics maker L '' Oréal opened on Tuesday, 24, a Center for research and Innovation, in the area adjacent to the campus of UFRJ, Ilha do Fundão, in the North of the river. The company reported, in a note, that the Center was created to accelerate the innovation and development of products to meet the diverse expectations of beauty of Brazilian consumers.
The French multinational, which recorded sales of 25.8 billion euros last year and employs 89000 people worldwide invested $160 million in unit R. L '' Oréal has seven centers of innovation around the world, including the Rio unit inaugurated on Tuesday.
According to note released by the Press Office of the company, the new research and Innovation Centre has two missions. The first is "to accelerate the development of local innovations in categories where Brazilians are highly demanding, like hair care, Sun protection and hygiene". Products developed on the new drive has potential for worldwide release.
The second mission of the Center is "to make the best innovations of the L '' Oréal relevant to Brazilian and Latin American consumers through local development and customization of global technologies". The l '' Oréal note points out that the company maintains research activity in Brazil since 2009. The investments being made in about 15 collaborative projects with universities and research institutes, as the UFRJ, the Federal University of ABC (UFABC), the Federal University of Itajubá (Minas Gerais) and a unit of Fiocruz in Rondônia.
