Unemployment back up to 12.4% in June, but still reaches 13 million people, says IBGE

The unemployment rate in Brazil fell back to 12.4% in the quarter ended June. This means that 13 million people are unemployed in the country. The data was released on Tuesday (31) by the Brazilian Institute of geography and statistics (IBGE), through the Pnad survey.
The rate was below the recorded in the quarter ended in may, when the index was 12.7%, and also in comparison with the same quarter of the previous year (13%).
The number of unemployed also fell. In the quarter ended in May were 13.2 million. In comparison with the same quarter of the previous year, when there were 13.5 million of unemployed, the number of unemployed fell 3.9 percent, or least 520,000 people in this situation.
The IBGE data show, however, that the fall in the unemployment rate have been pulled into the generation of informal jobs and by the large number of Brazilians outside the labour market. That is, that neither working nor looking for vacancies.

Perspectives
