With Black Friday, retail sales climb 11% physical

In the weekend of Black Friday (days 25 to 27 November), sales in physical stores, including shopping malls, rose by 11% across the country, against the promotion weekend last year (27 to 29 November). The data are from Serasa Experian Indicator of Trade activity – Black Friday 2016.
Last year, sales had less growth of 9%, according to the scorecard. For economists from Serasa Experian, the 11% growth shows that the event gains relevance in comparison with other important dates. Economists also reported that a stronger movement on Black Friday tends to anticipate Christmas sales, weakening the last time of the year for retailers.
