Hygiene and cleaning sector maintains positive results

The entrepreneur in the hygiene and cleaning sector is among the most confident in Brazil, according to the Industrial Entrepreneur Confidence Index ( ICEI), of July.
The study, which adopts data from the National Confederation of Industry ( CNI), ranges from 0 to 100 points, and values above 50 indicate confidence. The score of the entrepreneur in the sector was 56.7.
"The cleaning and sanitising industry has remained within growth projections for 2020. Despite the pandemic, we should close with a high of 3% to 3.5% in terms of production this year," says Paulo Engler, Executive Director of the Brazilian Association of Hygiene, Cleaning and Professional Use Sanitizer Industries – ABIPLA.
The latest Monthly Industrial Survey of the Brazilian Institute of Geography and Statistics - IBGE corroborates the confidence of the sector.
According to the document, in June, only five segments had a rise in physical production compared to the previous month. And the category of cleaning and hygiene had the second highest growth, with 12.1%.
"Cleaning and hygiene products play a key role in combating Covid-19. So it's natural for demand to increase," Engler says.
According to IBGE, the items that pulled up production were disinfectants for domestic and industrial use, soaps and detergents powdered and in bars, all recommended in the prevention of coronavirus.
The sector has also shown good results in maintaining jobs. According to information from the General Register of Employees and Unemployed – CAGED, from January to June this year, almost 1.2 million jobs were closed in the country. Meanwhile, the cleaning and sanitist sector maintains a positive hiring balance, with about 2,800 new jobs.
"Job creation in our industry remains positive. At a time like what we are living, it is extremely important for Brazilian society," says Engler.
