Unemployment grows to 12.8 million, says IBGE

Unemployment increased in Brazil and reached 12.8 million in the quarter ended in April this year, according to The Continuous PNAD, released on Thursday (28) by IBGE (Brazilian Institute of Geography and Statistics). According to the survey, there was an increase of 898,000 people looking for work compared to the immediately preceding quarter, when 11.9 million Brazilians were out of work. Another data that caught the attention, according to ibge data, was the number of Brazilians with a signed portfolio, which fell back to the lowest level of the historical series. Now, 32.2 million people have formal employment in Brazil.
