Nike's quarterly revenue grows higher than expected

Nike exceeded slightly the average estimate of analysts for the quarterly revenue, when new releases of footwear and clothing boosted sales in North America. Revenue rose 9.7 percent, to $ $9.95 billion, surpassing estimates of $ $9.94 billion, according to Thomson Reuters I/B/E/s. in North America, sales rose 6%, second high then, showing signs of recovery after competition from rivals Adidas and Under Armour press sales in three of the previous four quarters. The company's net income rose to $ $1.09 billion, or $ $0.67 per share, in the quarter ended Aug. 31, compared with $ $950 million, or $ $0.57 per share, a year earlier.
