Merchants have to provide containers with biodegradable raw materials

The Bill (PL) number 104/2015, authored by State representative Wilson Santos (PSDB), which rules on the availability of plastic bags in shops in the State of Mato Grosso, was approved-in first vote-in House Legislation of Mato Grosso (am ALMT). According to the Bill, is thanks to commercial establishment supply packages to the packaging and transport of products of paper bags with biodegradable raw materials that do not harm nature. Still, it is prohibited the provision of disposable plastic bags as a means of transportation of products marketed for mercantile establishments. This project applies only to packages provided by the establishment to the packaging and transport of products, does not apply to the original packaging of the products. If there is availability of carrier referred to in article 2, these will have to be refunded or made with biodegradable material of short cycle. The plastic bags are derived from petroleum, nonrenewable substance, made of a resin called low density polyethylene (LDPE) and degradation in your environment can take centuries. According to figures of the Brazilian Association of Supermarkets (Open), the traditional plastic bags consumption reaches 12 billion units per year.
