Retailers in Marketplaces Grow 90.7%

The amount of retailers that operate in virtual stores went from 7,448 in September 2017 to 2018 14,204 in September-90.7% growth in the period. The survey was conducted by the Price, a company specialized in price monitoring on e-commerce and dynamic pricing. This increase was driven by the entry of new sellers: 61% of the total operating in virtual shopping malls for less than a year. Three categories have recorded at least double this increase: "Tablet and Ipad", with 266.7%, "beauty and health", with 259.6%, and "Bags and Backpacks" with 211.1%. The number of products offered in the marketplaces 40.2% grew last year to 8.9 million in September 2018. Methodology the study examines 29 departments and products includes 88.3% of all published quotes in three of the largest Brazilian sites, Walmart.com, Americanas.com and Extra.
